Our Australian Peacekeepers
Helping Out for 75 Years
Peace is a wonderful thing. It isn't something to be taken for granted and it must be cherished and allowed to spread. Australians have been assisting in the spreading of this worldwide freedom for 75 years. Through this website we, Saint Philomena School, hope to help commemorate the 65 000 brave men and women who have been deployed in 62 peacekeeping operations, and remember the 14 who gave the ultimate sacrifice for peace.
WHAT IS PEACE?
A Concept In Reality
Aristotle once said “It is not enough to win a war; it is more important to organise the peace”. These few words perfectly convey the reason our Australian peacekeepers do their noble work. No matter who won the battle itself, there will always be cleaning up to do, and peacekeepers help to clean up the mess war has made in other countries. Their work is entirely selfless, and the sacrifices they make protect other nations from military disruption, the enemy of peace, while still maintaining Australia as one of the safest countries on earth.
They beat enemy military power by utilising their own military power for the intention of being generous and helpful, which in the end maintains peace.
